Green Lawn Cemetery Summer Clean-Up

August 21, 2021 8:00 am

The story of Green Lawn Cemetery in Chester, Pennsylvania, breathes the dark truth about racism in America. Blacks were not allowed to bury their loved ones within the city limits of Chester. Many turned to Greenlawn Cemetery in Chester County to support their loved ones.

Today, Chester residents are returning to Greenlawn Cemetery to reorganize neglected plots and bring honor to this historic resting place. Join activist and educator Twyla Simpkins on Saturday, Aug. 21st from 8am to 12pm at Greenlawn Cemetery (2500 Concord Rd, Aston, PA) for a summer clean-up project.
